Grupo Carnavalesco Cultural

Fogo Na Roupa’s Grupo Carnavalesco (Carnaval Group) has earned the title of San Francisco Carnaval Parade Grand Champion multiple times, most recently in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Drawing inspiration form Bahia and beyond, Fogo Na Roupa’s Carnaval contingent has developed its own style of bloco dance and music, coined “Fogolystic” — an innovative fusion of traditional and modern styles, encompassing rhythmic Latin drum patterns layered with strong African based compositions, and contemporary Hip-Hop funk.

Fogo can fire up a crowd with its sizzling rhythm and infectious parading style. The dancers present folkloric, popular and street dance styles of Brazil, with sections of parade contingent created from diverse communities. Each bloco (section) has people of all ages. The lineup typically includes a “Bahiana” section, dedicated to the elders of the community and Afro-Brazilian folklore, a youth section representing the potential of our community, and two main open dance sections with Fogo energy. Fogo displays dazzling parading style, depicting illustrations of serene dances of the deities, all the way to the irresistible dances of the streets. Fogo will bring you to your feet with non-stop energy and excitement!
